Calculating Apex Gazebo Frame Height
The height of an Apex Wooden Gazebo is determined by adding the finished post height to the roof structure above the posts. The finished post height refers to the total length of the vertical support posts after installation which may vary depending on your installation method, while the roof structure includes the combined height of the rafters, ridge beam, and any decorative elements such as roofing materials. This total measurement ensures an accurate overall height, which is essential for planning your gazebo installation.

Care information
Care information
To keep your Apex wooden gazebo in good condition, we recommend checking the timber periodically and keeping the structure clear of excessive dirt, leaves and debris. As the timber is pressure treated, it is designed for outdoor use, but over time it will naturally weather and change colour when exposed to sunlight and rain.
Once the timber has had sufficient time to dry and weather after installation, you may choose to apply a suitable exterior wood treatment, stain or preservative to help maintain its appearance and provide additional protection. Always make sure any product used is suitable for pressure-treated softwood and follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
It is also good practice to inspect the gazebo from time to time, particularly after severe weather, checking fixings, base plates and roof coverings for any movement or signs of wear. Keeping the area around the posts well drained and free from standing water will also help support the long-term durability of the structure.

Frequently Asked Questions
General Product Questions
Is the Apex Plus a heavy duty wooden gazebo?
Is the Apex Plus a heavy duty wooden gazebo?
Yes. The Timbakit Apex Plus is designed as a substantial, permanent wooden gazebo for UK gardens. It features chunky 150 × 150mm pressure-treated timber posts together with C16 structural-grade ring beams, ridge beam, roof spars and diagonal bracing.
Unlike lightweight pop-up gazebos or temporary garden shelters, the Apex Plus is a robust timber structure designed to be securely installed onto suitable foundations.
What is the difference between the Apex and Apex Plus wooden gazebo?
What is the difference between the Apex and Apex Plus wooden gazebo?
The main difference is size and post configuration.
The standard Apex wooden gazebo is designed for smaller garden spaces and uses a four-post layout. The Apex Plus uses a six-post design, allowing us to offer significantly longer gazebo sizes while maintaining a strong, well-supported timber structure.
The Apex Plus is therefore particularly suitable for customers looking for a large wooden gazebo for outdoor dining, entertaining, hot tubs or larger garden seating areas.
Why does the Apex Plus wooden gazebo have six posts?
Why does the Apex Plus wooden gazebo have six posts?
The six-post design creates an additional structural bay along the length of the gazebo. This allows the Apex Plus to cover a much larger area than our standard four-post Apex gazebo while providing additional support to the ring beams and roof structure.
It also creates a balanced appearance, with three substantial 150 × 150mm posts running along each side of the gazebo.
What sizes are available in the Apex Plus wooden gazebo range?
What sizes are available in the Apex Plus wooden gazebo range?
The Apex Plus is available from 4.2m up to 7.2m in length, with width options of 2.4m, 3.0m and 3.6m.
This makes the Apex Plus particularly suitable for larger patios and outdoor living areas where a standard-sized gazebo may not provide enough covered space.
Before ordering, we recommend marking the gazebo footprint on your patio or garden so you can visualise the overall size and the usable area beneath the structure.
What timber is used to build the Apex Plus gazebo kit?
What timber is used to build the Apex Plus gazebo kit?
The Apex Plus frame is manufactured from pressure-treated spruce and uses substantial structural timber sections throughout the gazebo.
The specification includes 150 × 150mm sawn timber posts, 45 × 145mm C16 ring beams, a 45 × 145mm C16 ridge beam, 45 × 95mm C16 roof spars and 45 × 145mm diagonal braces.
The substantial timber sections help give the Apex Plus its characteristic heavy-duty appearance.
Is the Apex Plus timber pressure treated?
Is the Apex Plus timber pressure treated?
Yes. The spruce timber used for the Apex Plus frame is pressure treated to improve its resistance to moisture, fungal decay and the outdoor environment.
Because timber is a natural material, variations in colour, grain, knots and small shakes can occur and form part of the natural appearance of a substantial timber structure.
What type of roof does the Apex Plus wooden gazebo have?
What type of roof does the Apex Plus wooden gazebo have?
The Apex Plus is supplied with exterior plywood roof boards supplied with grey bitumen felt shingles.
The pitched apex roof provides the traditional appearance associated with a timber gazebo, while the overlapping shingle system creates a durable weather-resistant roof covering for the seating or entertaining area below.
Are roof shingles included with the Apex Plus gazebo kit?
Are roof shingles included with the Apex Plus gazebo kit?
Yes. The Apex Plus Felt Shingle Roof model includes the exterior plywood roof boards together with grey bitumen felt shingles required to complete the gazebo roof.
The roof boards are supplied cut to size as part of the DIY gazebo kit.
Is the Apex Plus wooden gazebo supplied as a DIY kit?
Is the Apex Plus wooden gazebo supplied as a DIY kit?
Yes. The Apex Plus is designed as a DIY wooden gazebo kit.
The main timber components are supplied pre-cut, with corrosion-resistant frame fixings and a step-by-step fixing guide to help with assembly.
Because this is a large, heavy-duty timber structure, we recommend having sufficient people available to safely lift and position the larger frame and roof components during installation.
Are the posts supplied at their finished height?
Are the posts supplied at their finished height?
The gazebo posts are supplied at a full 2.4mtr length allowing the installer to determine the appropriate finished height for the installation.
Your final gazebo height can depend on the installation method and whether the posts are being secured above ground using post supports or installed into the ground.
We recommend deciding your required walk-through and overall gazebo height before beginning installation.
How should an Apex Plus wooden gazebo be fixed to the ground?
How should an Apex Plus wooden gazebo be fixed to the ground?
A permanent wooden gazebo should be securely anchored to a suitable base.
For installations onto a suitable concrete base, bolt-down post supports can be used to secure the timber posts. Posts can also be installed using other appropriate ground-fixing methods depending on the site and foundations.
Ground fixings and bolt-down base plates are not supplied as standard with the Apex Plus gazebo and should be selected to suit your installation.
Can the Apex Plus gazebo be installed onto a concrete patio?
Can the Apex Plus gazebo be installed onto a concrete patio?
Yes, subject to the concrete base being suitable for the loads imposed by the gazebo.
One common installation method is to use bolt-down base plates secured to the concrete, with the 150 × 150mm gazebo posts then secured into the post supports.
Timbakit also provides a step-by-step guide showing how wooden gazebos and pergolas can be fixed to concrete using bolt-down base plates.
Can I add wooden sides to an Apex Plus gazebo?
Can I add wooden sides to an Apex Plus gazebo?
Yes. Timber privacy side panel kits can be added to compatible sections of the Apex Plus gazebo to create a more sheltered outdoor space.
Adding full-height or half-height wooden sides can provide additional privacy and protection from prevailing weather while still retaining the appearance of a traditional timber gazebo.
Can I paint or stain my Apex Plus wooden gazebo?
Can I paint or stain my Apex Plus wooden gazebo?
Yes. The pressure-treated timber can be left in its natural finish or subsequently stained or painted if you would like to change its appearance.
New pressure-treated timber can contain additional moisture following manufacture, so allow the timber to dry sufficiently before applying a decorative coating and follow the coating manufacturer's instructions.
